What is Speech Therapy?
Pediatric speech therapy addresses difficulties associated with developmental delays, dysphagia, oral motor, articulation/phonological disorders, language, voice, oral sensory integration, feeding aversions, autism, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), fluency, and literacy.
Speech therapy sessions are typically 30-45 minutes in length and 1-2x a week depending on the needs of the individual child. We will work on increasing understanding of verbal language, improving use of language to express wants, needs, and thoughts in multiple modalities (words, sign language, communication device, etc.), improving speech sound production skills so that a child can be better understood by communicative partners, and evaluating the need for specialized equipment, such as a communication device.
